Yeshiva Bais Yochonon Shraga of Mesivta Beis Dovid

History…

Mesivta Bais Yochanan Shraga – the Mesivta of Yeshiva Bais Dovid – is among America’s longest established Mesivtos. It was founded a half century ago by HaRav Mordechai Don Waldman zt”l and HaRav Yeshaye Dovid Bayer zt”l. The Monsey community was then very small, but it was slowly growing, as was its population of Bar Mitzvah bachurim. A Mesivta that lived up to the highest Torah ideals was needed.

The Mesivta was founded by selfless marbitzei Torah under the close guidance of HaRav Yaakov Kamenetsky zt”l - as a pure makom Torah where all that mattered were the ratzon Hashem and the needs of talmidim.

Year after year, decade after decade, bachurim thrived in the Mesivta – growing to be healthy bnei Torah and yerei shamayim, with solid values for life. Alumni of all ages grace Monsey and other communities as respected rabbanim, mechanchim, askanim and Torah baalebatim.

It is now a totally different era in Monsey – a bustling ihr v’em b’Yisroel – and the chinuch world in general.

Under the leadership of the Rabbi Avrohom Moshe Seidman and Rabbi Reuven Jacobs shlit”a, Mesivta Bais Yochanan Shraga has simultaneously advanced to provide the highest caliber chinuch in tune with the needs of today, while maintaining the unique values and purity of its founding so long ago. Within the past year, Mesivta Bais Yochanan Shraga moved into a beautiful new campus, the Mesivta’s first campus of its own. The campus is spacious, comfortable and located on College Road, away from the hustle and bustle of town.

In their new surroundings, talmidim have seen unprecedented levels of hatalzcha, b’siyatta dishmaya. They learn from their devoted rabbeim with great motivation – dozens of bachurim are voluntarily mesayem the Masechta - and enjoy a whole new level of menuchas hanefesh and simchas hachaim.
